PMP starts for Term 2!

PMP starts for Term 2!

This week the Kiwi team started PMP for the term.  Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP) is a set of activities for children.  They need to follow a sequence of instructions, do eye tracking, climb through and over obstacles, jump in and out of hoops and walk along a straight line.  These activities have been designed to help develop gross and fine motor skills.
Check out how these children are doing!!

Thank you to the wonderful parent helpers!
We couldn't do it without you!

Science Alive with the Moa Team

Science Alive with the Moa Team

Our senior classes were lucky enough to have a visit from the Science Alive team this week for Science Week.  As part of our 'Forces' science unit, they were able to participate in the 'Science Friction' programme.
The students were able to do simple experiments to see how forces work.

Science Week in LC 10

Science Week in LC 10

Science Week was a great success, with lots of classes doing their own science experiments.
Here is what LC 10 learnt:
After reading that plants need water, we followed the experiment to see what happens when you placed celery into water with food colouring.  Our variables were carnations and blue dye.

Our hypothesis: The celery was going to turn red all over and the petals on the flower was going to turn red.
After a short time the leaves started to change to red.  The blue dye didn't do anything at first.

Our conclusion:We think the red works better because it was powder and maybe it was stronger than blue liquid dye.

Great work LC 10!!
