Orchestra comes West

Christchurch Symphony Orchestra have taken their time to come to West Melton School. They were amazing. There were four great musicians who played the harp, violin, viola, flute and piccolo. Some lucky students had a go at playing the violin, playing the mini harp and conducting!
We learnt that:
*the orchestra has played at the Airforce Museum
*Helen the harpist plays in restaurants sometimes
*they all played recorder and piano first
*the harp has different coloured strings
*flutes have been around for 40000 years and they used to be made of bone or bamboo
*Violin bows have horsehair strings
and much more...
