Congratulations to the following winners of the 2012 West Melton School Poetry Competition.
The Langton Family Poetry Cup was won by Kacie Austin with her original poem ‘What is a Friend?’.
What is a Friend?
by Kacie
Austin
A friend is
someone we trust and we care
Our deepest
secrets with a friend we share
To spend
time with each other, to laugh and to joke
To tickle
and play fight and giggle and poke
At times
when it’s lonely and covered with fear
A great
loyal friend will always be near
Birthdays,
baking and partying, friends do lots of things
They share
all their clothes or whatever they bring
When
shopping with friends it’s great to get their advice
And if you
struggle with money, ask them to add up the price
Sometimes
when they’re sad and feel quite alone
They’ll ring
a friend and pray she picks up the phone
Friends
often compete in all the school races
They try
extremely hard to get the best places
Fantastic
friends are loving and kind
They are
never too far from the back of one’s mind
Friendships
in life are what make it worth living
It's the icing on the cake when you learn to start giving.
