What a wonderful day was had by all.  It was fantastic to see so many Grandparents on the day.

Many had come from afar including the North Island! How special is that!!

They all enjoyed their picnic lunch plus seeing the students at work in their community classrooms.

A fantastic picnic lunch was held in LC 6. 

The students loved sharing their day with their grandparents, especially when it came to story telling time!

Grandparents' were invited into LC 2 to show the students their old memorabilia, including a butter churn and old games.

 

The students loved showing their grandparents what they have been learning.  A wonderful way to end the day.

WEST MELTON SCHOOL

Wednesday 17 September from 12 noon on.

We have been finding out about life in earlier days and would love to find out what life was like for you, when you were our age.

WHO? Any grandparents, parents, older family friends, relatives and/or neighbours

WHAT? Come at midday to share lunch outside with the children (if fine) or inside (if wet). After that, spend time with your grandchild’s class engaged in their afternoon activities.

WHAT TO BRING?

 - A picnic lunch and something to sit on

 - Something from your childhood to share and talk about with the children, eg      photos, your old school uniform, toys from your childhood, anything you think    might interest or amuse the children.
