Congratulations to the following students in receiving a Principal & Writer's Award this week.
Rimu Community:
William V - & Elli T - These two writers show great resilience and erserverence in their wrting, and always do their very best. They are creative, thoughtful and show great skillsin editing and improving their work. Well done both!
Harakeke Community:
Bede I - Being an enthusiastic writer. Bede includes interesting ideas in his writing and he listens carefully to advice about how he can make his work even better.
Bertie B - Making big improvements with his writing.
Brin S - Uses vivid & descriptive words in his recounts, making them exciting for the reader.

Jackson B - Totora Community For a detailed and ordered recount. Demonstrating great use of descriptive language and correct paragraphing. Well done!
Eimi M - Totora Community – For writing a detailed and interesting thank you letter. You used paragraphs correctly and ordered your ideas. Well done!

At the front:
William J - Kauri Community – William is a star writer in the Kauri Community. He always has lots of interesting ideas to include in his writing and likes to share his stories with others.
Lewi R - Kauri Community – Fantastic writing skills! Lewi can hear and record lots of sounds in words. He always writes interesting stories.
Sophia S – Kauri Community – Sophia has excellent knowledge of alphabet letters and
sounds. She is able to hold her ideas in
her head and record the dominant sounds in words, in order. She leaves finger spaces between her words
and always puts a full stop at the end of her sentences! Well done Sophia!
Saskia P - Ti Kouka Community Well thought out and presented thank you letter. Great use of paragraphing to order your
ideas. Well Done!

Principal & Writers Awards - Term 1 Week 4
Congratulations to the following learners in achieving a Principal or Writers Award already this term!
Max H – Rimu Community – For showing all the KC qualities and for being a great KC kid.
Madelyn W – Harakeke Community – For showing respect towards other children and staff as well as excellence in her work.
Gabrielle S – Harakeke Community – Gabrielle is being a wonderful KC Kid, settling into the Harakeke Community. At the swimming pool she is taking risks and trying new things.
William C – Harakeke Community – William has had a wonderful start to the year. He is always being a great thinker and a respectful citizen doing his best in class.
Georgia O – Rimu Community – Georgia consistently shows the best West Melton KC attitudes and values. She is a great self manager and thinker: ready to learn and putting her best effort into her learning.

Principal & Writers Awards - Week 6 Term 4
Congratulations on the following students who have achieved Principal and Writers Awards.
Principal Awards
Mitchell P – L.C. 6 – Mitchell has had a successful year in LC 6. He has learnt that by being a self believer
and self manager you can do anything. He
is also a wonderful team player and respectful citizen who helps with tidying
up and uses good manners to his peers and leaders alike.
Camille Mc – L.C. 3 – Camille is a wonderful member of Learning Community
3. She displays all qualities of a great
KC kid. She is going from strength to
strength in her reading and is showing skill in other areas. She always has lovely manner towards her
teacher and peers. She has great
creative ideas when it comes to writing and often produces some lovely
stories. Well done Camille.
Sophie H. – L.C. 5 – Sophie is a wonderful member of our learning
community. She began the year as a shy
and nervous wee bus, who, with hard work, self belief, resilience, good manners
and kindness to others has blossomed into a highly respected and well liked
member of our class. Well done Sophie,
this is just the start!
Kaia Davis – L.C. 8 – Kaia is a great KC Kid. She is a kind and respectful
member of L.C. 8. Kaia is always willing
to help others out and is an excellent role model for the other children in
L.C. 8.
Cushlagh Jennings – L.C. 10 – Cushlagh has shown huge improvements in all learning
areas and continues to have a positive attitude towards her learning. What a
SUPER star!
Megan A. – L.C. 12 – Megan has been chosen for the Principal’s Award
because we (Mrs Adcock and Mrs Moake) have been very impressed with her calm,
conscientious attitude towards everything that she does. Megan is organised and consistently makes
good choices. When given a flexible
timetable, Megan is able to remain focussed and responsible. She is respectful and kind.
Writers Awards
Molly T - L.C.
6 - Molly has worked hard and showed lots of self belief to become an
awesome writer. She always writes
interesting stories with lots of describing words. Molly is now able to write in sentences
correctly. She is a superstar writer!
Edward H. – L.C. 12 – Edward is transferring his reading knowledge into his
writing. He is also able to use and
expand his vocabulary knowledge.
Bed I – L.C. 8 – Bed is a star writer in L.C. 8. He has great imagination and always has
lots of interesting ideas to include in his writing. Bed likes to share his stories with the other
children in L.C. 8.
Phoenix M-S
– L.C. 3 – Phoenix has made a wonderful improvement in his writing this
year. He has learnt to slow down to make
sure he is getting the best ideas down on paper. We have had a big focus on descriptive
writing and Phoenix always has such amazing creative ideas. We have looked at including as many
adjectives as we can and I can see Phoenix is trying really hard with this. Well done Phoenix – keep up the amazing work.
Thomas R. – L.C. 10 – Thomas has continued to develop his personal voice in
his writing. Thomas takes risks and used
exciting vocabulary that HOOKS his audience.

Principal Awards
Isabella R - LC 7 - Isabella is a wonderful example of a West Melton KC Kid. She has excellent classroom manners and always tries her best in all areas of the curriculum.
Lulu O'D - LC 2 - Lulu is a super West Melton KC Kid. She is friendly to everyone and always includes other people. Lulu is kind and helpful to other people.
Jody M - LC 1 - Jody consistently works hard in class and is always willing and eager to help out. An asset to LC 1.
Harley G - LC 14 - Harley has worked hard and improved in all his learning and has a positive attitude.
Taylor M - LC 15 - Has a can do attitude and is happy, respectful, caring, involves others and shares!
Jordyn M - LC 11 - Jordyn has developed great resilience this term! She is a fantastic self-manager and always makes good learning choices. She is a respectful citizen and helps other children to organise themselves in the morning.
Writer's Awards
Austin C - LC 2 - Austin is a keen writer. He enjoys writing and is very capable at it. Austin has very interesting ideas, which he organises well. He understands lots of interesting words and sometimes uses them in his writing.Alexander V - LC 14 - Alexander has worked very hard with his writing working on his punctuation, working on google docs and sharing his work with others for feedback.
Greta B - LC 14 - Used great questions and punctuation and shared her story about Grandparents Day on google docs.
Meg R - LC 15 - Outstanding story of a kidnapping using many adjectives hooking the audience into her story.
Taylan E - LC 7 - Taylan has worked very hard to learn his alphabet letters and sounds and is now able to independently sound out words when he is writing his sentences.
Fergus J - LC 11 - Fergus takes great delight in sharing his writing and writing independently. He can write more than three sentences, uses interesting words and knows how to write a story that other people will want to read. Fantastic writing Fergus!
Oliver N - LC 1 - Oliver wrote an amazing, interesting narrative story with lots of thought put into it!!

Cameron G – L.C. 8 – Cameron is a fantastic writer in LC8. He has worked really hard to improve his
writing this year and likes to share his stories with others.
Madelyne W -
L.C. 8 – Madelyne is a great
KC kid. She is a kind and respectful
member of LC8. She is always willing to
help others out and is an excellent role model for the other children in LC8
Jax d W – L.C. 10 -
Jax is a great reader. He asks
thoughtful questions. He is making links
with his reading and writing. What a star.
Isaac W – L.C. 6 – Isaac is a true KC Kid as he displays all six competencies every day
from the time he arrive at school by being a self manager. He has become and awesome self believer and
now takes risks to improve his learning.
Furthermore he is always respectful and a super team player. I am so proud of him. He is an awesome KC Kid.
Kendra C – L.C. 6 – After student conferences Kendra has worked very hard at school and
home to improve her writing. She adds
extra detail to her stories to make them interesting and longer to get to the
next writing level. Kendra is now
learning to write in sentences. She is a
writing Superstar!
