The Wero o te Wiki ~weekly challenge is to encourage our learners to use more te reo use around the school, especially in the playground! There will be challenges every week for the rest of the year.

The phrases over the term break were: "Ira! ~Look at that!" and "Kei reira! ~Right on!

There were fantastic videos sent in before the break. It is tau kē to hear you kōrero Māori! And the winners this week are Amira, Ella and Tayla!  Here is their winning entry (link for video)

The new phrase to try is "Koia kei a [koe]" ~You really nailed it!
(You can change the "koe" to someones name if you like!)

Come on West Melton, Ākina te reo ~Give te reo a go!

Art Enrichment Programme

Art Enrichment Programme

In Term 3, West Melton invited schools from the Rolleston cluster, to send students who were passionate about art.

Each student had a chance to create a Giacometti Wire and Plaster Sculpture.

Each student would develop observational drawing skills, then would have to transpose their drawing skills to 3D artworks.

In the end they would have created a wire and mache sculpture with a graphite finish.

Mrs Busch our experienced Visual Art teacher, facilitated the course.
