Poetry Competition

Last week West Melton School held their bi-annual poetry recitation competition. Students from Year3-8 presented their chosen recited poem to their respective classes, and then the top poem recitations from each class were then selected to compete in the school Poetry Recitation competition.

George Watson was judged to be the recipient of the Senior Poetry Cup and Nicole Cochrane was the winner of the Junior Poetry Cup. Coincidentally, both of these students wrote their own poems for the poetry competition.

Year group winners were:

Year 8 : George Watson

Year 7: Sheree Tomlinson

Year 6: Nicole Cochrane

Year 5: Kacie Austin

Year 4: Grace Horsbrugh

Year 3: Charlotte Darry

Jump Rope for Heart afternoon

We all had a Jump Rope for Heart afternoon. We jumped, twirled, skipped and enjoyed fitness, having fun with friends. There were demonstrations of different styles of skipping, such as double dutch and backwards criss-cross, and parents/caregives were invited to participate too. The Heart Foundation kinldy donated some skipping ropes to school, and all students were asked to bring a gold coin donation for the Heart Foundation.
