Celebration of Learning - Term 1 Week 11

This weeks Celebration of Learning was hosted by the Pukeko Team. They welcomed our own West Melton Superheroes...

Miss Allchurch, Mrs Jenkins and Mrs Cider

and their amazing achievement in finishing the Oxfam 100km.

They raised over $3521 for Oxfam!!

And here is another amazing hero, Mrs Kilpatrick who has been dancing in the "Mama Mia' production.

Congratulations to all our GOLD Matheletics heroes!

In the Pukeko Team, their inquiry theme has been 'My Superpowers'.

Ngaio community has been finding out about qualities that make a hero. They created a wall of Superhero qualities.

Rimu community shared their Superhero collages.

Ti Kouka community have been creating their own Superhero Profiles.

It was time to sing very own heroes song - the West Melton School song!

Congratulations to our e-ticket heroes! These lucky learners Ethan, Jacob, Matua, Daisy & Tasman have all won movie tickets. Just in time for the holidays!

These lucky learners won Picnic with the Deputy Principal today.

Congratulations to Tilly, William, Sam and Camryn.

Jed announced the winning Whanau team this term:
6th place - Newton 413 points
5th place - Langdale 484 points
4th place - Selwyn 639 points
3rd place - Hill 1003 points
2nd place - Ross 1294
1st place - Tricketts 1566 points!!!!

Daisy and Jed also talked about Enviro News. They had a trip to the Kowhai Sanctuary were they discovered they had a 85% success rate in last years plantings.

They also announced the winner with the best recycling is - Moa 1 who will get an extra 10 minute playtime.

We also congratulated our 6 swimmers who recently competed at the Canterbury Swimming Champs.

And congratulations to our athletes who recently competed in the Lincoln Zone Duathlon.

Thank you to the Pukeko Team and their fantastic assembly. We ended with Jump Jam!

The Lincoln Duathlon by Daisy M

On the 11th of April, 13 West Melton School kids went to the Lincoln Zone Duathlon in Motukarara. The weather was perfect.

Our school got some high placings such as: Stacey M 1st in 9 yr old Girls, Ben A 3rd in 9yr old Boys, Isla Mc 2nd in 10 yr old Girls and Jed Mc 3rd in 11 yr old Boys.

The course was a run, bike, run.
