William Pike Challenge

William Pike Challenge

William Pike shared his immensely powerful story of being critically injured in a volcanic eruption on Mt. Ruapehu.  Even after having his right leg amputated, William is still fanatical outdoorsman.  He challenged Y7 & 8 students and their parents to be passionate, resilient, embrace challenges and make sure Every Day's a Good Day (the title of his book).

William Pike is a sought after speaker and role model to youth nationally and internationally. He is the director of William Pike Challenge Awards - a popular youth development programme run in 60 schools around the country and now at West Melton School for the Intermediate years students.

William has an infectious enthusiasm for adventure and life - he is a Kiwibank Local Hero medal recipient and a 2015 Young New Zealander of the Year semi-finalist.
The William Pike Challenge awards will see the Intermediate students each carry out 20 hours community service, learn a new hobby or sport and experience at least 6 challenging outdoor experiences throughtout the year.
