Cantamath 2012
On Wednesday 8 August 2012 Cantamath
was held at the CBS Arena. It was really noisy with lots of teams and
supporters. There were about 320 teams of four, from Year 7 to Year 10. The West
Melton School teams were;
Year 7: Max S, Sam C, Samuel K, Tait

Year 8: Jack R, Danny R, Ally T,
Isabella H
The teams
had 30 minutes to answer 20 questions without using calculators. Each team had
a designated runner who picked up the questions and dropped off answers.
Some of
the questions were really hard! Try this one!
e.g. Lunch
starts at 12.05pm and finishes at five minutes to one. Through how many degrees
has the minute hand on the clock moved during the lunch break?
The Year 7
team answered 9 questions correctly, while the Year 8 team answered 7.
It was
great to represent the school and it was a good experience seeing all the
people there and being able to answer some really hard questions.
