Canterbury Hockey Tournament Yr5/6
Last Thursday with perfect weather we all headed off to
Hagley Park to face our competition. The 'wheels on the bus' was sung to the
last verse as we travelled across town. There were 12 teams from around
Canterbury, most wearing blue so we had to be careful to pass to our players,
not the opposition!
We were hungry for a win. Having practiced for almost two
terms under the watchful eye and experience of Mrs Herring and Mrs Hamburger we
were ready.
It was tense, some games we won with ease but then, boy, we had to
run and chase and really pull out our best.
What a team. We won 5 out of 7 games, the semi-finals only
decided by goal deferential, then finals. I was so proud our team got 3rd. Not
only that we had fun and the team were very sporting with the best attitude.
Thanking our opposition even when we lost. What a great day for West Melton.
