West Melton School sent a strong team of 39 swimmers to the Ellesmere Schools Zone Swimming Sports at Burnham on Tuesday. Competitors were able to be entered in a maximum of two events plus a relay team.
Noteworthy results from the day’s competitions were:
Toni McKee, 1st place getter in the finals in the 11yrs and under Championship Breast stroke 2 lengths, and 2nd place getter in the finals for the Open Butterfly 2 length, and Sam Darryl 1st in the final for the Championship Backstroke 2 lengths. Both these competitors will represent West Melton School at the Canterbury Swimming Championships held late in March. The relay teams also achieved fantastic results: Both the girls and boys 9 years and 10 years relay teams achieved 1st place in their respective events.
Parents transported the students in cars and supported the individuals in their events, and their support was much appreciated.
